My Black Is Beautiful & #BlackGirlsDo Take Over ESSENCE Festival!

By  |

The Cut Life crew had the pleasure of re-joining the amazing team at My Black Is Beautiful for this year’s ESSENCE Festival! We’re huge fans of their arsenal of products including Pantene Gold Series (the intense hydrating oil is my personal fav), Olay Whips collection, and the highly anticipated launch of Head & Shoulders NEW Royal Oils collection coming soon…

We kicked-off the weekend with an amazing spa day complete with facials, massages, gourmet bites, and the chance to catch-up with fellow beauty bloggers. On day one at the convention center, the MBIB booth had lines of beautiful black women wrapped around the corner to enjoy the complimentary hairstyling, photo booth fun, and a chance to leave their mark on the #BlackGirlsDo wall. I wrote #BlackGirlsDo run the world!

Gia Peppers hosted the Beauty Myth’s Debunked: “Slay, Nay or Ummmkay” segment on the Beauty & Style Stage featuring Dr. Candrice Heath, and yours truly as guest panelists. We gave real info on a few generational traditions like scalp greasing (it’s a no no), the importance of using moisturizer with SPF (hello Olay Whips!), and contestants spun the wheel for the chance to win MAJOR prizes.

That same evening, MBIB hosted an intimate dinner with Lisa Nichols, Queen Latifah, and a host of beauty influencers and celebrities including Comedian Lil Rel, and The Real’s Loni Love. Queen’s speech had everyone in awe and empowered.

On day two, Kela Walker hosted a panel with Necole Kane of XONecole.com, and Naturi Naughton of POWER on STARZ, on the Beauty & Style Stage for a discussion on the importance of self-care.

On day three we kept the party going and the lines did not die down! I even had the chance to receive hair touch-ups and took over MBIB’s IG story. A host of celebrities including Niki Murphy, Fred Hammond, Raheem DaVaughn, LaTocha Scott of XSCAPE, John Gray and his wife Aventer Gray, Erica Campbell, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, and more stopped by the MBIB Booth throughout the weekend!
