The Best Sunglasses For Your Face Shape

By  |

Summer is here, which means it’s time to pull out all of our hottest accessories — namely, sunglasses. Shades can take a basic look from 0 to 100 in a matter of seconds, beautifully frame your face and call some attention to a new ‘do. Just like certain cuts fit certain face shapes better than others, the same goes for sunglasses too.

Here’s a quick guide to help you stunt this summer with the perfect shades for you:

Round faces have the same width and length and have a soft, rounded jawline. So, you’re going to want shades that add structure to your face and give the appearance of a more oval shape. Choose a frame with a square or angular shape that’s a bit wider than your face, like classic Wayfarer Ray-Bans.

Oval faces have the softness of a round face, but they are longer than they are wide. Oval faces are often touted as the “perfect” shape. Ladies with this face shape can basically wear any type of shade — round, square or otherwise, but aviator shades tend to really pop oval-shaped faces.

Heart-shaped faces are wider than they are long, and the jawline tapers down to a pointed chin. It’s also said that people with “true” heart-shaped faces have a widow’s peak. Oval and round shaped frames work best for this face shape, since they “round” out your angular chin. But make sure your frames aren’t too thick or clunky — it’ll weigh your face down.

Square faces have the same width and length, but unlike the round face, their jawline has sharp angles. Just like heart-shaped faces, ladies with square-shaped faces should choose rounded frames that will soften out your sharp cheekbones and jawline. But, unlike heart-shaped faces, your shape can handle a thicker or more ornate frame, so go all out!

As always, fashion rules are meant to be broken, so choose whatever frame “calls” your name!
