Hair Inspiration: Going Gray
From silver to deep charcoal, gray tresses are making a huge statement as this trend, natural or dyed, is being embraced like never before.
Finding a gray hair used to be such a big deal that left you frantically plucking each white strand that popped up. Now going gray isn’t an age marker, but a fashion statement and these stunners are wearing it boldly.
Scroll through for a dose of gray-haired inspiration!
Ty Alexander, @gorgeousingrey, got her first gray hair at the age of 14, and now at 39, her hair is nearly all gray. For some ladies, going gray at such a young age would freak them out, but Alexander has fully embraced her salt-n-pepper locks. She’s known for her sleek bobs, casually cute updos, and she occasionally adds in funky colors for an unexpected pop!
We are obsessed with @itstoian‘s silvery curls. Her black roots and lavender tips give that perfect cool, “I don’t care” vibe.
Lastly, we can’t forget about our stunners who have been living and slaying “The Cut Life” before some of us even got our first trims. @xogabibass, @strut__themovement, @fabnfitcarla, and @naturalsilversista are giving us #hairgoals with their gorgeous gray bobs, pixies, buzz cuts, and fluffy fros.
If you’re considering dyeing your hair gray, use your skin’s undertone to guide your decision. Women with warm undertones can play with a variety of tones, from an icy white to shades that have a tinge of purple or blue. Women with cool undertones can play around too, but consider steering clear from a pure white or gray shade — as it can magnify the redness of your skin.
For naturally gray ladies, keep your icy strands from taking on an unsightly yellow color by using a purple-tinted shampoo made especially for gray hair. The purple will cancel out the yellow tones and leave your mane with a healthy shine.
