Trend Report 2017: Beauty, Hair, and Fashion!
Out with the old, and in with the new — take a look at 2017’s emerging trends that include fresh makeup, 70s-worthy hair, and casual chic looks.
- No Make-Up Makeup
While not a “new” trend per say, the no make-up makeup look (or no makeup at all) has been gaining some major clout. Fading quickly are the days of heavy contouring, baking, and intricate eyebrow routines as fresh, minimal looks are taking center stage. You can look to celebs and influencers like Alicia Keys, Chrissy Teigen and even, Kim Kardashian.
Whether you’re into full beats or going bare, the both share one crucial common denominator to pull them off: healthy skin. Skin is IN and with new careful-curated skincare routines (12-step Korean skincare routines anyone?) there are tons of resources and products at your disposal to keep skin plump, healthy and glowing.
3. Pretty in…Peach
If you’re so over the winter weather, look towards beauty brands producing pallets highlighting perfect peach tones. For inspiration definitely check out make-up tutorials from beauty vloggers Alissa Ashley and Tatyana Wstco.
1. Slicked & Sleek
We’re feeling sleek slick backs from 2017. A style that can work on almost any hair length from shaggy pixies to lobs. Arm yourself with your favorite styling cream/mousse and a little hairspray if you need a little more hold.
2. Eye-Grazing Fringe
Bangs have been a top of mind option as a great way to change up your look without doing something super drastic (Have A Bangin’ New Year: Your Ultimate Guide to Bangs). Eye length fringe are an amazing option because not only do they give off a cool girl vibe but they’re versatile. Rock them front and center or sweep the to the side
3. Layered Lobs
It’s time to take the lob to the next level. How you ask? Layers. By strategically taking off length you can seamlessly take your ‘do from sleek and straight to voluminous and full of life.
If you caught the latest round of NYFW, stripes were seen parading up and down the runway at shows such as, Altuzarra, Rag and Bone, DKNY and more. Whether they be nautically inspired or bold and bright, this is a trend you’ll want to stock up on.
2. One-Shoulder Wonder
S/S ’16 was definitely the season of off-the-shoulder tops galore. It seemed like every other day fast fashion retailers were rolling out another iteration of the trend in almost every color, length and fabric imaginable. This year we predict shoulders will still be flaunted, just one at a time with one-shoulder silhouettes.
You were hard pressed to not see or hear the word “athleisure” making an appearance. The niche fashion trend has made a name for itself with an estimated market value of about $44 million according to research firm, NPD (source: Forbes). With that being said, the trend looks as thought it will continue evolving as brands look for ways to make the aesthetic work-place aprops.
