By  |

It’s that time again. The year is coming to an end, and everyone is reflecting on past 365 days. While 2016 was full of not-so-savory moments, we can certainly appreciate all the gorgeous hair and beauty trends that made us swoon and slay.

Take a look back at our favorite looks, and don’t be afraid to remix some of them for 2017!

Extreme Side Part

Give your hair some flair and volume by creating a deep side part. This simple change will instantly amp up your look.

The Under Cut

Undercuts have been insanely popular this year for ladies with short cuts and long locks. Peek-a-boo designs and dazzling side parts add some unexpected flair to otherwise simple cuts and styles.

Natural Textures

Lux, fluffy, naturally textured tresses took center stage this year. Sistas have been rocking big hair for a while and it’s nice to see that the beauty world finally caught up!

Balayage Brownie

This is a newer hair coloring technique that allows highlights to be painted on to create a graduated, natural-looking effect. Try this dye style in a gorgeous brunette color to add some definition and shine to drab hair.

Mid-length Cuts

Blunt cuts are cute, but layers and shaggier cuts to your shoulder are what’s popping! Loose waves and some body elevate the long bob style, giving you that no-fuss look.

Plaits and Twists

Braids are always in style, and that will never change. Let your inner goodness shine through by creating a crown-inspired style with some plaits and twist designs. Take a look at Solange’s latest looks for inspiration!

Skin Aglow

2015 was all about the super beat, contoured face, and 2016 ushered in a softer, and just as flawless style. Makeup artists said “no” to contour and began reaching for highlighters and blushes for a lit-from-within look.

Natural Brows

Full, natural brows took center stage this year, and made everyone put down the tweezers and reach for some castor oil to grow out some glorious arches.

Chrome nail polishes and eyeshadows (Thanks, Pat McGrath!) took over the latter part of the year and added some much needed glitz and glamour to the cold fall and winter months.

Cream Matte Pout

This year was all about matte lippies!  Nude, mauve, and berry hues were perfect for an everyday, natural glam, and deep reds, browns and avant garde shades were perfect for serving extra slayage.
