Essence red carpet Trevor

The Cut Life crew invaded LA last week on behalf of African Pride for the annual Essence Black Women in Music event. We had the pleasure of hosting the red carpet for African Pride’s #HaveYourShea initiative and we also live blogged from the event.

A host of celebrities including Christina Milian, Trevor Jackson, Sheryl Lee Ralph, George Clinton, Vanessa Williams (Soul Food), V Bozeman (Empire), and many others, graced the red carpet. We even had the pleasure to speak with African Pride’s Global Marketing Director, Charlene Dance, and Essence Editor-In-Chief, Vanessa K. De Luca, about why they partnered to bring this event to life.

The Avalon in Hollywood set the stage for the night’s honorees, Grammy nominated Jazmine Sullivan and Andra Day, to perform to a nearly sold out crowd.

For all of the fun photos from the night follow @myafricanpride on social media and the hashtag #HaveYourShea
